Worse...another parasite. Be careful, @Ruthless. He/she is going to ask for the names of your shippers, then cut a percentage off the top, and expect you to do your job for less. Which of course you wont, and he/she will find some dingleberry that doesn't know any better who will pull for 1/5th your rate, and screw things up with insurance claims and bad service.
How do I find Oversize Shippers?

What is your plan? Do you plan on running the loads on your trucks or are you going to post the loads on load boards?
Do your drivers have any experience in heavy haul?
Why would a shipper pick you as their broker over their current setup? -

Just like the others have start by learning how to crawl then walk then you can go running the big stuff.
Oh and if you think moving the big stuff for 2.50 a mile is good.. Do Not Ever call me or the people I work with or we will laugh and hang up on you.
Go work with Bennett, They can show you good H.H. rates. lol -
My rollback never left the yard for less than $4 / mile. I wish that company never went under, thankfully I made a lot of good friends there that opened other doors. I still talk to them daily. -
I'd look near the shneakers and the shoes........................................................
Ruthless Thanks this. -
Here's to big dreams. First of all you will need to have an established relationship with the manufacturer. Who ever builds the product. I have a total of 4 customers I handle logistics for. You will have to have a proven record with them. You will have to have the ability to move their product efficiently and get it to the destination without damage. There are times when you won't be able to move all loads so the overflow has to be handled with the efficiency asbif you are moving it yourself. I handle all from route surveys, permitting, cranes, police and escorts. Everything tobget it from A to B. I handle brokering to outside carriers. I do only broker to 1 or 2 truck operators, I will not give a load to Dailey, ATS, Warren, TMC etc. I do not charge a broker fee. I get paid to handle logistics. I also have my own trucks moving the loads. If you want to find your own customers you first have to establish that relationship. No amount of phone calls is going to even get you left overs. Large jobs usually entail a bid sheet. They give you a list of every load. You look at dimensions weight distance to site etc. And put your best price in there. If you have no idea what a 600k lb load costs to move you can screw yourself before you even put it on a trailer. If you think you are going to broker OD freight because of the higher rates they demand and are going to be able to skim a larger chunk, think again. You could get stuck holding a load and not moving it. I am always on site at delivery. I always pay my brokered trucks on the spot via comcheck. If they have damage I have a 10 day period for net. But I do hand them 50%. This was how I learned back from my dad and grandfather. My grand father started and basically owned the Chicago steel lane so everyone would trip lease load coil and deliver here. They would come turn in their signs and paperwork and get their check. Some of you probably don't even know what trip lease is. That's way back before deregulation. Anyway if you don't know what to do it is probably best to not try out of the blue. Get a job with a company that has an open deck division. Start with flat bedding move to steps. Eventually RGN, then if you are still around try some big stuff.

Hey Dave, I remember trip leases. Heck one outfit we were almost permenant trip leasers with them.. We hauled their freight west and then ld. produce back.. The good days lol..
I think they mailed the paperwork each week to my boss.. Had their door signs but never put them on.. About once a month the boss would give me a newer set of paper signs to carry
