Houndstooth suggests another good company, TMC. I am a Maverick and know a TMC driver, good dude. They all seem squared away and are very responsible and courteous on the road from my experience. There is also Hogan, Swift, Boyd, DM Bowman that are national flatbed carriers that I know of. Do your homework, talk to drivers. You will find a company that suits you. Just seriously, know that flatbedding is ALOT MORE than just walking back to the back of the trailer and opening up the doors. Some are really shocked at all we have to do securing these loads and tarping them properly- and dealing with the elements at the same time. It can get really tough.
How do I get in flatbed when Iam experienced

I call Jacksonville ' fl home don't think flatbed could be much harder then what I do now have to unload 40000 pounds by hand ever other day no pallet jack or anything only rollers not afraid to sweat or get dirty don't want to go out there with prime or some other massive driver producer's like the company I work for now thanks for all the good advice keep it coming. Plz
-
Well, yeah, I guess so! Ha! I actually talked to a USX driver on that acct as he was unloading, so I do understand what you mean.
As for Maverick, not sure if you live in the hiring area, but that is for a recruiter to figure out that stuff. I would encourage you to talk to one soon. We are getting alot of new drivers and alot of new trucks.
And, as to my earlier list of some FB companies, I forgot to mention Melton. And I have seen alot of Decker flatbedders out there recently too. -
it's not just physical, open deck is just that, open. Your brain is required so the load your hauling isn't going to fall off on that 25 mph interchange. Or god forbid on the roof of a 4 wheeler. Don't mean to be dramatic but it is more than just sweat.

Some take a lot of brain to secure lol Especially when they load it like a jigsaw puzzle
AZS Thanks this. -
not to mention when they start bringing out the rules, the load I'm on now was no straps and chains only if I had softeners (carpeting, etc.), so uh, glad I carry carpeting then.
-
Glad I dont have a load like that. I have rubber I can put down, but thats it.
-
It's not the typical load but obviously it happens, rubber would work too though.
-
I understand that. Some of the loads take forever to secure cause you have to find all the little pieces and make sure theyre secured also. Ive used over 20 straps trying to secure a load because they loaded it funny. But, preloaded trailer so I had no control over that part of it. Made it to the destination just fine, albeit a PITAAZS Thanks this.

You could try McELroy Truck Lines, I worked for them for a little while....overall a good company, they couldn't keep my truck out of the shop so I parted ways with them. I can sit on my couch and make 0$ and be a heck of a lot more comfortable than sitting in a shop making 0$.
