Could someone tell me which line do I need to log when I'm not driving. How can we get the most hours in when running as a team.
Thanks.
How do I log when there are two drivers ?

When you're not driving, you're in the bunk sleeping, so it would be the 'Sleeper Berth' line, unless getting something to eat, etc, which would be off duty. That's the way I did it when I was running team, but that was almost a decade ago.

Stay out of the passenger seat . You have to log on duty , not driving if you are out of the sleeper and not driving .
jlkklj777 Thanks this. -
Was there a rule years ago? If your ride in the passenger seat is followed by what is now a ten-hour break, the whole thing is shown off-duty.

I can't remember back that far.

When one is eating it is logged as on duty, not driving unless the carrier gives you written authorization to log off duty (see part 395).
From the retired federal DOT official -
It's still the rule. But if you receive less then 10-hours you must log all time in the passenger seat as line 4Last edited: Feb 24, 2009

Yeap, that's what your "suppose" to do.

Every carrier I have worked for or that my hubby has worked for had that authorization. That's one of their efforts to maximize miles.
Of course under the new HOS rules, it doesn't make the difference that it did when I was driving.
I think it's Standard Operating Procedure anymore.

Does that include when combining off duty hours with sleeper berth hours to total 10 ?
