And I am another one of those people. I am in a 2019 international prostar that has an APU. however, the APU won't start. It buzzes for a couple of minutes and then gives up and throws a red triangle alert, its a thermoking apu. The bunk heater works for a few hours until the battery gets too low and I have to idle the engine to recharge the battery; with a 5 minute idle timer.. Knowing how to overide the timer would be great so I can get back to sleep.

    Press yellow brake knob in
    Press and hold brake
    Push cruise button on
Push and HOLD set cruise button
At the SAME EXACT time while HOLDING cruise set button: Pull yellow button out AND release your foot off brake pedal
Red brake light should pop on your dash and you should be able to give the throttle ( gas pedal) gas and truck won’t react because it’s in override mode

I'm making this post a bit late, but unfortunately I've never been able to get that to work on my trainer's truck, nether could my trainer.
Luckily, I am now in a volvo that has both a APU and an option to idle. Obviously I use the APU when practical. In my experience so far the APU heat is good until the outside temperature gets into the single digits, at that point the APU is unable to maintain a comfortable temperature inside the cab, so I idle then. It will be intresting to see how the APU does in the summer.
