My faith is in myself and my 1911. Legal to have in all 50 states (some have different transportation guide lines) such as in plane site for some unloaded and separate for others. Plus my CCW is honored by 32 other states. So im good to go 24/7.
As far as the company not allowing them all they can do is fire me my life is more important than a job. Plus if i keep my mouth shut only way they will find it is if they get nosey.
How do I pIrotect myself on the road?

You may want to edit that post a little.
just the first 50 words or so
Nothing personal, just a heads up !!!! -
When I am at work all I have is a 3" pocket knife, which according to the Canadian border guards is a weapon. The biggest problem is by the time an assualt happens your chances of getting your defence "weapon" in time is not likely if you do not have it already. So like many others said you have to pay attention to your surroundings.

common sense is your best weapon---

i think the best way is to avoid trouble spots in the first place; For example there are rest areas on I-80 in PA which are unattended at night. i've pulled in there and i was the only soul there---or at least i appeared to be---no other cars/trucks. i don't think it's a good idea to stop at places like this.
Stop at only well-lit, well populated truckstops and rest areas.
Pulling in behind a shopping mall after hours is very probably not a good move.
2) See my post/picture regarding door security. Remember that alot of trucks are keyed alike or only have like 20 keys for all the trucks made:

3) i haven't really figured out the bathroom thing yet, but i feel that it would be best for you(everyone really) to stay inside the cab at all times unless you're in a well-lit/well populated place. -
Fact... if a person is within 10 ft of you with a knife drawn, you will not have time your weapon.
-
Fact proven how? Been during studies and surveys? Prison discussion groups? Trucker tall tales at truckstop diners? Sorry, I've seen a lot of death and destruction in my time, but even the most qualified military specialists can't make statements like that based on "fact".
bbqguy Thanks this. -
Argue all you want. Proven over and over again at police academy's.
-
Not arguing, just saying that your "facts" aren't facts. And I've been through a police academy that specialized in hand-to-hand and weapons take-down.
If you can't USE your weapoin, whatever it is, effectively, then carrying it is a waste of time. I mean that if it's wasp spray, mace, a knife, a tire beater, whatever... if you don't think first, and know how to use it, some person with just his fists will take you out.
Just saying there's no need for the Green Beret/Rambo kinda talk when it's just talk, and the facts don't add up.bbqguy Thanks this. -
You say that you've attended a police academy that specializes in hand to hand combat and takedowns. On this I say your full of it. Any one that has attended a LEBS course knows that that is part of defensive tactics. One of the things they have you do in defensive tactics at least in the (State of Florida)is to try and draw a mock weapon while someone with a mock knife at a distance of ten feet advances on you. It tacks less than 1.5 seconds to cover that distance. Unless your weapon is already drawn you won't make it. I'm done on this subject.
