how do i turn off email notifications?

as the title says.
i have email notifications turned off in preferences, but i am still receiving them

 

yes i did save the settings.
but i think i may have figured it out.
i did not realize under the reply to thread box there is another spot that needs to be turned off in more settings.
i have it turned off in this thread, but will have to wait to see if i can change it in the other threads once i reply to them.
it always takes me a few days to get used to the quirks of new forums.

 

yea, that makes sense.
but i was not even aware of that section.
usually when i go to a forum, i only look at the section that directly applies to me.
