I keep my long form at home with a pic on my phone. Also one of my license front and back just in case. My DOT physical card is embossed here in TN and I carry it right behind my license. Get one of those plastic binders that fold and snap shut. Great for keeping bill of landings, time reports, daily stops, receipts, etc.
You no longer need to carry your DOT medical card. For everything else, I keep them in a zipped up folder on the truck and photo copies on my phone.
I am new to this industry. But most of the drivers of the company I work for use this two clipboards with storage.
Make a couple copies of it.. I keep mine along with the long form in my truck binder with all the other legal documents. I also leave a copy at home.. Supposedly at some point we won’t have to carry the card anymore..
That happened a few years ago. As long as one has a CDL, the DOT medical form, short or long, is no longer needed. That's why we have to attach it to our license at the DMV/SOS now.
all my paperwork, bills, etc, was kept in my briefcase. the med card itself, was always in my wallet. i NEVER took along the long form paperwork, and was NEVER asked to show it. even before all this malarkey of the new system. my employer had the original.
For my trucks, I have all the permits, call lists and other important info in binder with those plastic paper protectors, the permits are indexed by state and purpose for each truck and company. Nothing isn't kept in bol type trucker clip board, except blank bols. I've run into drivers who had everything in their clipboard and they opened it up with everything falling out. Where did you get that? I bought one just like that from walmart 14 years ago then it got worn out and wanted to get a couple more but they stopped selling them.
