I've done it twice so far, but the combo of brakes on, off, pedal, cruise on, set, resume is not consistent. I was just trying some things out and I see my ENG PTO HRS start counting, so... How did I do it? Once I got the engine to bump the idle too, but not since... Any thoughts?
How do you enable PTO on prostar using cruise buttons?

Make sure brake is set and clutch pedal is up all the way. Turn cruise on. Now this is where it gets funny. I have also found the pto function to simply not work sometimes and it comes down to button pressing sequence. I found if I press and release the set/coast button, you will notice a slight flutter in the engine RPM, then press and hold the Resume/accel button and the rpms should increase. I don't know why, but many times if you press "on", and then press resume/accel it does nothing.

On Prostar if its activated in the ecm its
Turn curise on then hit the accel button once. rpms should spin up to 900. If its not activated nothing will happen. -
This method is not pto, its idle adjust and a way you can make your truck always return to a set idle. The on + resume is the only way to put it into PTO and requires the feature to be activated on the truck.
Edit,
I would upload a video of the setting in insite and it activating but youtube wants to be stupid and wait on wifi instead of just uploading the #### video.Last edited: Oct 12, 2015

Be sure your shifter is in neutral. On Prostars the sensors are sometimes a bit wonky, and if you breathe on it wrong it will think the truck is in gear.

Maxxforce or Cummins engine?

NAVSTAR N13
... Maxxforce
Thanks for the posts... I recovered this truck so it is in need of some repairs, such as the HVAC system. The sleeper just blows hot. This is what lead me to fooln' with it. So I had it running for 2.7 PTO hrs and this will allow it to idle continuously. It was great! But still haven't got it to set since. Possible short/intermittent connection? My cruise button looks like the previous driver had nails and used it 24/7... No cover left and worn plum out!
I can get the "ON" hold, plus "resume" to always flash the dash and display active faults, but that is the only thing it ALWAYS does...
