Even if you have a 44,000 lb load in a van, it's how high up your centre of gravity is that can have an effect on my decision to go or no-go.
With a tall load of peat moss I stopped in 40 mph winds. With a low load of zinc ingots, I've driven in 70 mph winds with no problem, given clear dry roads.
I few weeks ago I was driving 25 mph with empty super-b hopper bottoms after we had freezing rain over night that was really shinny. Winds were only 30 mph and I parked it after only four miles as my drives got kicked out twice by the wind. Luckily the roads are really flat here.

This is going to get worse in the future. Love it or hate it, the future of communications is going to be social media and cell phones. Part of the problem is these young drivers coming into the job are already doing it. Add to this the immature attitudes of much of the people using CBs today and you get no one listening. Any of you that do things on the CB need to understand that everyday more and more drivers just turn it off like I did. Then when the day comes you need information nobody is there. Think about this next time you feel the need to act the fool with your CB.

wind speed isn't as big a problem as your direction and wind direction
tail winds and head winds are much better then crosswinds
at least for the "pucker factor"
