I was wondering how you experienced drivers handle getting sick on the open road? How do you handle catching the flu so on and so forth?
How do you handle sick days?

If you're able to push through, medicate, and keep working, go for it. If you don't feel well enough to drive, you need to communicate with your dispatcher, and they can either reschedule or take it off of you. Then at that point, you sleep it off.

Also, don't let yourself get too far gone. Get to a walk in clinic if need be.

Was heading home for Christmas a few years back. Pushing hard I made drop off a day early. Woke up early next day sick like dog with around 200 miles to get home. After a few hours of puking my guts up and getting some extra sleep I showered up and headed home. I heard afterwards you can get put out of service or driving while ability impaired for driving sick. I took it easy, had a short way to go, and got home fine.
If I was out on the road Id probably would have had to call dispatch to reschedule or repower.austinmike, JoeyJunk and bzinger Thank this. -
