Bu, but there has to be a law about everything. I want the government to run my life, except those ELDs and a few other things like DOT and stuff.
The OP is a typical millennial.

We had family in Alaska for a while and it was a eye opener. After his death pending house sale we carried in oil alone about 670 to 1200 a month to heat the place and maintain it. If anyone was to examine real estate in alaska, make sure that house even if its been unoccupied has been heated in winter. Nature has a way of destroying homes that are not taken care of in winter. Took about 10,000 dollars in oil before it sold.

Another way to understand how far Alaska is, is overnight Eagle mail service. US Post. It's one of the hottest ways to get a document anywhere mail in 24 hours. Next day. When the sun came up it was still aboard the 757 on the way to Anchorage.

Down here in the 48 any 18 wheeler that carried that Gold Alaska plate in addition to the usual deserved respect.

if a company were to tell me.....hey..in fact ONE DID.....

it was Air-Ride Inc, out of the former airport, in Swanton, OH..

it was for the DHL account

i was in the state of CT, north bound, about 50 miles from my warehouse. the run was from MA to Allentown, PA and back, 5 nights a week)

i got a call from the stupidvisor in Swanton.he said that i wasn't needed anymore, that i was out of a job right there and then, while on my way back.

i quickly said, oh, ok, i'll park the truck here on the side of the road, and get home on my own....since i don't work for you no more.

stupidvisor "thinks" for a minute, then say's...never mind, we can have you do another driving job instead.

i said...BS.......say good bye to all this DHL air freight (yeah, going by truck), i don't take no "####" from you or no one else.....

a few minutes go by, and my immediate stupidvisor at the warehouse calls me and says,

it's all been worked out, you ain't fired, c'mon back.

you see, what happened was, the original guy that did that run, didn't want to do it no more, got onto another run, and he cried that he wanted it back..

he cried even more, doing that other run he was given, till we lost the DHL account......lol

If i was to ever be fired out on the road with no warning I’d drive my truck as far as it could go up some dinky logging road. And leave it there for the company to have towed out backwards.

I once gave a load from Georgia for Arkansas and told to stop at the company terminal there. I was stumped as to why. I actually bothered me. I did not think I had any issues with my logs and knew for dang sure there were no accidents. Was something stupid discovered during the yearly review? When I got to the terminal and walked into operations my FM's boss told me to report to safety. Then it was finally revealed why. I had to take a driving test. I had got so worked up over what was really nothing. Very few drivers are going to get called in for termination that at some point understand what is happening. I can recall several recent threads with drivers asking am I about to get fired. You know it. If your company has a no tolerance policy about something and you do it, what do you think is going to happen? Don't automatically assume a call in is termination, in fact, most cases it is not.

I had one (Btw I love your english stupidvisor... I should save that one..) tell me to be ready to go home once back at the yard.

Orly? Do you understand where I am at? uh no. Ok, you know the bronx where the yankee stadium is? yes... that's where you find the truck. If you get to it fast enough you should have everything in one peice and not on blocks.

how you gonna get home? Wot? There is a thousand in my wallet it's either Kennedy or Amtrack metroliner, I'll be home faster than you can arrange a driver to Yankee stadium.

    .....

Ok fine *&^% forget this. Come back monday am we will talk.

Monday AM? Company closed. Yard empty nothing. Phones out etc.

To this day I have not been able to discover anything about them. I let it go, one of the greatest mysteries in life.

The last company I worked for had four trucks at my location. We had the"kid" as a driver and he tore up equipment. He also had a stupid mouth. No self preservation warning light. I noticed on indeed one day that we had posted an ad for a truck driver. I sent out a group text to all the other guys wondering who had quit. Everybody said not me. Two weeks latter the kid got fired. He was surprised and angry. Nobody else was. Funny part is since I quite 6 months ago they haven't been able to fill my truck. They called the kid to see if he wanted to come back.
