You can drive 11 hours per shift
You can work Total of line 3 (driving) and line 4 (on duty) of 70 hours in 8 days.
In order to Reset your 70 hour clock, you have to be on line 1 and or 2 for 34 straight hours.
You have a 14 hour period per shift in which to do your 11 hours of driving.
In order to reset your 14, you must be on line 1 and or 2 for 10 straight hours.
you can WORK beyond the 14th hour you just cannot DRIVE beyond that point.

Cute......

My cure is pretty simple...It's called checking in...to my nearest La Quinta, Marriot or Best Western. Sleep, get up, lather, rinse, repeat...We have sleepers, but other than a quick nap...why ? My hotels are paid for..

Forget all that clothespin, aluminum foil BS!
Here is my tip for a sure fire adrenaline rush!
When you feel yourself getting sleepy just pull into the next truckstop, go inside, walk up to the biggest, baddest, Supertrucker in there and punch him square in the jaw!
Now run for your life back to your truck and get on down the road!
Repeat as necessary!

That works- unless you run outside and find yourself blocked in...
Now, that's going to be another adrenaline rush! -
This is for the guys with o calculator. Simple math fellas its real easy to figure out.
10 hrs driving x 7 days = 70 hrs (not including on duty not driving time)
11 hrs driving x 7 days = 77 hrs (your 7 hrs over)
14 hrs (11 hrs driving+3 hrs on duty) x 7 days = 98 hrs
14 hrs x 5 days = 70
See where you will ALWAYS need to do a 34 hr reset? The rules state that I cant work OVER 70 hrs in 8 days of time so this is how you fix that.
8.75 hrs worked (in a day) x 8 days = 70 hrs
I then get to "recycle" the hrs and keep working the 8.75 hrs a day everyday of the week. My schedule varies from working 10 one day to 5 the next so I never really get to work just 8.75 hrs each day but it all works out. -
How do you stay awake at your present job? Or the corollary, how much do you sleep at your present job?
-
The best thing you can do to stay awake is to sleep. Never allow yourself to drive fatigued, no matter how late the load is. It's better to get there late than not get there at all.
