I listen to extreme metal. Fast, loud, heavy and very dark. Blast beats, tremolo picking, ungodly screams, etc. Youll not only stay awake, but if you're lucky, raise the devil and have a real fun ride!
How do you stay awake?

Pull over for naps. Also, if you can, get on the phone with someone (headset or earbud always!). For me, talking keeps my mind active and alert, and an added benefit is that whoever you're talking to can help monitor your speech: if it's starting to get slurry or you forget what you're talking about, they can tell you to get off the road...

Every driver has their own way, you will have to find yours. The important part is to recognize when you've lost, when the sleepiness is controlling you. We have all lost a night or two it just happens.
Sean_Reno, Tonythetruckerdude, allniter and 1 other person Thank this. -
I was a night owl. I loved to drive through the night, but I would usually hit the wall at about 4-6 in the mornings unless I was close to a shipper/receiver.
I knew I was getting tired when I found myself just staring ahead. For some reason, I could recognize this without going past the safe zone.Sean_Reno Thanks this.
