i got the truck from the guy ive been working for doing dirt and pipe for. im sub contracted through him.. im also putting a wet kit in sooner than later just for as you suggeted to get more work and thats also where i came from, dirt work. im sure you have some insight but im not trying to get rich just love driving my truck so im just going to keep on keepin on.. its just going to take a bit to find some more folks that need an occational truck.. one day ill pick up a van just to add to my versatility as you suggest. the only real thing im worried about is the smog bs..

Yes you will have to worry about smog rules as you will need to check the CARB rules regarding your truck as it may already be no good for Cali.

I wouldn't worry too much about the port, like I said, a taxi gets more per mile than the idiots who pull cans from the port!

Send me your info, I might be able to send decent loads your way every now and again.

Boardhauler is right, I started with one truck 5 years ago in San Francisco pulling someone else's end dump, now in summer months we run up to 70 trucks just on dirt work, we only got into flatbed work to keep trucks busy in winter when it rains and work is quiter, believe me, you will never make money pulling a flatbed every day in CA, you would be lucky to cover your costs if you work smart and hard! It just supplements the quite winter days of dirt work for us, I don't need to send out a flat bed, I just do when I get good money for a load, otherwise it stays in the yard and I enjoy my day while waiting for a good paying load to pop up!
