Am planning on looking at a couple trucks that used to be part of CFI fleet. Does anyone know how well the do on maintenance?

Talk to their drivers if you can. From what I know personally, seems none of these fleets do very good on maintenance. 50000 mile oil changes ( but i have heard thats a new normal interval) . Just don't grease them at all. Maybe there are exceptions. ?

They do maintenance on the side of the road.

Run away as fast as you can. I bought one of their 2013 KW 660s and it was a nightmare. I spent 17k in maintenance on that truck in 4 months. EGR system clogged from excessive idle time, DPF and DEF were neglected, overhead(s) neglected, inner axle replaced due to driver abuse, clutch would not stay adjusted, severely out of alignment. They change the oil and that’s about it. I finally got rid of that truck and I’ll never buy a used “fleet maintained” truck, especially one with a Cummins. I’ve owned two Cummins and I’ll never buy one again.

Where did you buy that truck from? Thinking you are around my area in Missouri?

When I first got my clean idle truck, I asked about this at truck stops. People told me I would be unpopular. I have since found out darn near everyone idles, clean or not. When it's 90 out, APUs won't keep up.

I live in the Rogers, AR area. I bought it from Summit Truck Group. Tulsa had it and brought to Lowell. MHC has a bunch of them too. I like Summit a lot. If you’re looking for a good used truck Summit has some Prostars with N13s that my salesman has sold and he said they’ve been happy with them.
I’d stay away from anything that doesn’t have an APU. If it’s a fleet truck with no APU, it’s going to have around 50% idle time. That excessive idle time will kill you in maintenance as the second owner. These fleets trade them off soon enough that they don’t have to deal with the affects of excessive idle time on these modern motors.

That was exactly what I thought. But at least it is not everyday 365 a year.

Having a APU in used truck before buying was one of my main thing looking for. Not so much for the APU but to make sure it was not run idle every day unless it was a team truck and could prove it. MHC in Joplin seems to have some decent deals. Will look at the Prostars as I have not spent anytime looking or researching them. Thank you for the extra informational.

    Ozark is definitely an exception.

I routinely get "truck due for PM G service" messages. That's preventive maintenance, grease. My trucks have been on the grease rack at least 3 times each. There is always a line of trucks at Ozark at the PM door. The grease job is just one, there are tons of PM messages I get all the time. Maintenance to everything, brakes, the APU, tires, belts hoses oil changes you name it.
