My truck is parked in the driveway when I'm home. I rent a spot for the trailer. ($20 per month)

Yeah, you live in Knoxville too! You shouldn't have any problem at all getting home. Just make sure that you have a place to park an eighteen wheeler. Keep in mind you may have to take a load home with you so make sure you have a secure spot. Plus if you end up driving reefer make sure you are not going to pee off neighbors with it running all night. What ever company you go with they are most likely going to want to know exactly where you will be parking the truck. Most want an address and phone number.

Heavy Dude you lucked out! Only spot we could ever get we had to be on a waiting list and then it was $100 a month! We only came home but once every two to three months! Gotta do what you gotta do right! What really sucked is that we have over thirty acres but my driveway (4 wheeler trail) is way to narrow and has a thick tree canopy over top which is too low. It also has two ninety degree turns in it. Can't have it all I guess!

If you're doing OTR you might want to talk to the manager of a bowling alley or strip mall, or even a smaller grocery store. Some of them might be willing to lease out some space in their off times, but whatever you do, make sure you work it out ahead of time.

Where I used to work, we always had slow business on the weekend, and we rented out three spots to semis, and that revenue alone helped beef up the bottom line on our slower days.

I wouldn't be concerned about getting home and where to park. On the flip side of the coin, there will be times when you are under a "hot" load and passing near the house, lets say about 40 miles, but can't stop because of time constraints. And this will happen when you have been out there already for 3-4 weeks or more. But, hey, thats trucking.

That's fine. I wasn't that concerned about it. But it would be nice to learn some of the tricks of where to leave it.

So basically, wherever you leave it..call ahead and make arrangements first. Don't just assume you can leave it in the Wal-Mart parking lot waay out in the middle of nothing without talking to someone first.

I realize being near Knoxville, there will be loads that take me right through there..but if I can handle Iraq I think I can handle driving by home without actually visiting.

HEY! I noticed you have a Guitar! I have a collection of vintage Gibsons at my house 152 in all. Mostly hollow body type. All are in pristine condition! If you ever are looking for a guitar let me know! I need closet space!

I can't speak for other companies, but USA had a customer in Vonore. Drop and Hook place too. Might be able to Bob-tail too & from there once a month.
