Former GP driver here. I opted out of the driver-facing camera, but they have ALL kinds of other technology to track exactly what you're doing at all times.
A couple pieces of advice:
If you plan to work for any company, trucking or not, DO NOT EVER CONNECT YOUR PERSONAL DEVICE TO THEIR NETWORK; doing so gives them permission to monitor your browser history, messages, email, etc. Always use your own mobile data for personal matters. DO NOT EVER DOWNLOAD COMPANY APPS TO YOUR PERSONAL DEVICE. DON'T USE YOUR PERSONAL DEVICE FOR ANYTHING WORK-RELATED, EVER. If they require you to use your personal device for ANYTHING work-related, they are 100% tracking you on- and off-duty. AND DON'T EVER SIGN INTO PERSONAL ACCOUNTS ON COMPANY DEVICES; even if you sign right back out, they can stay logged into your Facebook, Google, etc.
Also, through Samsara, GP has the capability to stream and record audio from your dash cams at any point in time, even if they claim they can't or don't. (https://kb.samsara.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042997932-Enable-Audio-Recording)
Always get hard copies of all company policies and procedures upon hire, and request policy updates in writing on a regular basis. Ask questions. Advocate for yourself. Don't expect a company to have your back, because their only real interest is protecting themselves. I won't say GP is a bad company, but they have been going the way of the megacarrier for a while now.
How does GP Transco utilize driver facing cameras?
