ANYONE who says this guy is not a hazard while taking xanax is NUTS.

Xanax DOES make you sleepy, DOES make you not know what your doing,
DOES make you forget the past few days much less yesterday.

I know I've been prescribed this before and even though someone is used to it
and has been on it for awhile it still has DANGEROUS effects for someone who
    has a job like us....

That guy may be nuts, but not everyone that takes the stuff is. Maybe he was nuts to begin with. I don't know specifically about Zanax, but the general benzo medication is not all that bad. We're talking valium, tranxene, ect. I know someone that has taken benzos daily for over 20 years with no affect on their driving, car, big truck, or otherwise. If a person is affected to the point of not feeling right, they are taking too much, or this is not the right prescription for their body chemistry.

Most people I talk to feel much more unable to operate machinery when taking blood pressure medications, but no one gripes about those, because so many people take them.

Stranger trust me when I tell you Xanax is not something anyone should take
and drive ANY vehicle much less a CMV.

I've taken both valium and xanax and valium can come nowhere near to the
effects of a xanax. Xanax taken in even small doses is a very powerfull drug.
I've got a cousin who abuses these at this very moment.

Even when prescribed someone can take a xanax tonight and chances are
they won't remember MOST of what will happen on that night or day whatever.

Now don't get me wrong someone who takes this med for a long time the effects
will decrease over time but will still have MAJOR effects.

Most common symtoms of someone on xanax are slurred speech, not being
able to stay awake, forget-fullness, doing things you would not normally do.

Like I've said I've taken the drug and have done things that I would not have
ever done, or said things to people that I would have otherwise never said.

Like I said, I have no indirect or direct experience with Zanax, and I don't doubt your experience at all. My experiences are with valium and tranxene, which are also benzos, but could very well have a completely different makeup, and totally different effect on the body. I have heard a few things about Zanax, but never talked to someone who had actually taken it, so I guess I was wrong about the effect of that drug. Thanks for your first hand knowledge. I now know to stay away from that if a doctor trys to prescribe it to me in the future.

    #### you would think Benzo would be in there,i would hope the company would test for it.

Also my post saying viaium and zanax where the same ,wasn't meant the wrong way just saying a test will test benzo (same) both drugs.:biggrin_25511:
Least that what my dr said,he also said Zanax is more dangerous than Opitates(in some cases) esp when trying to quit.
    Never the less this nut takes 10-12 zanax bars(2mg) a day,,,,,,,,its scary!:biggrin_25513:

The truth of the matter is that most drugs have an adverse effect on the body, from Nyquil on up to pain killers, heart medication, blood pressure medication, ect...

I was very suprised to find out on my own that the Prilosce I was taking was actually doing more harm than good. I did great for around a month. Shortly arter my indegestion got worse, for the first time in my life my blood pressure was up, and my resting heart beat was in the 80's compared to my normal resting beat in the 50's. After weaning myself off Prilosec, things are prety well back to normal. It's taken about a month though. This goes to show every medication has a reaction, which may be totally different than someone else.

Any benzo is extermely hard to quit after a while. The person you are talking about is not taking this amount for the medical benefits, he is addicted and getting stoned on purpose.

    Coonass and sammycat Thank this.

The general or 'average ' dose of Xanax is 0.25mg to 0.5mg 1-3 times a day as needed. In NY state is is classified as a ''triple'' script. In other words the Md has to use a special Rx to write the prescription on- not the one he writes for example, Prilosec. This goes to the NY dept of health to be tracked for abuse by Md's and/or patients.
Stranger is ABSOLUTELY correct in saying that EVERY MEDICATION can have an adverse affect on anyone. And his example of BP medication is spot on! I had to switch mine to bedtime as I could not handle how tired and dizzy it was making me all day! and with that I could drive a CMV???? *sarcasm* REALLY. I could barely make it from my cube down the hall somedays I was ready to pass out.
I agree this guy sounds like he is abusing the crap out of this stuff but someone else said what about pot? or uppers to stay awake and downers to sleep cough syrup? You can abuse just about anything.

The sad part of this whole thing is that ##### will probably keep his job until he wipes out some wagon load of kids......
