5/5 actually was a safe way for teams to run. Whether people who don't drive for a living believe it or not. It's that old "keeping the Circadian Clock in sync" thing. Drivers once had the flexibility to do this, even as solo runners. As long as you're getting enough hours of rest each day, it works out fine.
Problem is, when people who do not understand the nature of this business and how the human body adjusts to given conditions get involved and try to shove everybody into the same size box. No study has ever been done to prove or disprove the flexibility of the human brain. A lot of 9-to-5ers...in fact, the majority of 9-to-5ers think that what works for them (the majority) should work for everybody. Sorry to burst the bubble.
Make the hours more flexible and you will see improved productivity and safety.

They need to bring back the ability to stop the clock. I had a time period from about 8 pm to midnight where I got very drowsy. Under the old rules, I could stop, nap for a few hours and start rolling again without messing with my available hours. Even if I could go back on the road, there is no way I would do it with the current HOS. They are BS created by idiots that have no clue. -
I know you do though! Heck, even my worthless first trainer actually understood that one.

Some of you choose to live in reality while others seem to live in the fantasy world that my 4 yr old lives in and think everything in life is perfect.
