No. I grab padding tarps that I’ve cut holes in and make a smoke tarp.

My company issued smoke tarps are 8’ drops and 24’ Long....

If I had a 4’ drop tarp in the 10’ range I’d be solid with 80% of the freight I get that just requires a smoke tarp...

The We B Tools and crap places have low cost tarps that work great for smoke tarps.

This is the one I use, gets torn up, no problem. Keep two with me. One in use, one new.

    Cheap tarp

The Dow plant we pulled out of had their own set of rules evidently. You used THEIR cardboard corner protectors or you left empty. Their's are 24" long, citing they spread the tension of the strap out better across them. Who's gonna argue with them with 6,000 lb, $5.00/mile freight on a daily basis...not me anyways.

We have a lot of ex Melton drivers here at Spd. Good training, tarp everything, “long” periods on the road, ect. But more miles, better customers and freight, nicer trucks, less hand holding.

    Just saying...

    stwik Thanks this.

Ya, I wouldn't argue that either. That's different circumstances than what I'm talking about though.

If i was a company driver with flatbed experience id be looking at miller transfer and rigging out of rootstown ohio. Big enough to be a player but not so big that they have the big corporation feel. And they will start you with a normal flat and train you on the bigger stuff all the way up to 10 axle rigs. I know guys that spent have their whole careers there, that says a lot about the company.
