Florida is a bad state for flatbed. However, I have dropped in Orlando. Been to Miami twice and Daytona Beach once. Two miles from the speedway too.

Are they paying you hub miles, practical miles or HHG miles??

How much do you get if you only drive 2,300 miles a week??

With no insurance, I honestly think the pay should be at least .44cpm

They pay actual miles, 2,300 miles would be at the .38/mile. It is a small trucking company with only a few trucks. The owner seemed reasonable and straight forward. He did tell me any oversize would be at .48/mile. With no recent experience and the company is based only 30min from my home, maybe I shouldn't push for more??

I know somebody would prob take it for .30/mile and be happy with flatbed the way it is in FL...

that doesnt sound like a bad deal. Yea its allot of miles and kinda low cpm but together that'll make a decent paycheck.

I'd take it. Wouldn't count on the on time bonus but the detention is nice. Sounds like a rare deal in Florida.

Actually it is a good deal to be honest. Anything the owner takes out of Florida he is pretty much going to be eating it most of the year to get to good freight. Also if I remember correctly he was paying you tarp pay of $50. Tarp 2 loads a week and you are at a grand a week. Not terrible considering most freight coming out of Orlando is around $1.25 per mile if he deals with brokers and is heading to a good area. Or having to dead head to the border and from Orlando that is probably 150+ miles. My point is if you take into consideration that with the dead head and on loaded averaging $2 a mile maybe better or less. There are times where he will come out ahead and times when he will come up short by paying you per mile. Plus considering your situation with recent experience this does not sound like a bad deal at all. My guys get 25% to 27.5% of everything so they are usually in the range of 1000-1400 a week being home a couple nights and all weekends. So if you run 2300 miles and tarp two loads you are looking at $874 on miles + $100 on tarp. So $974 a week. ..... in short. go for it!
