18 years old to drive 80,000 lbs down the road at whatever speed? Yet 21 years old to drink? That would make no sense at all.

    DTP Thanks this.

    That's what threw me.

I went both ways with it:

23yo - you should be out of the nest and off the tit, able to do a job consistently & reliably as a means to support yourself.

23 years experience: Unless you love OTR, you shouldn't be doing OTR. If you do love it, after 23 years, you've probably found your best-fit company which offers up competitive, if not GREAT pay, plus a slew of bennies and off time.

But with the way it's worded *shrug*.
And all the interjection about what folks think it means *shrug*.

At 18 yrs old I was operating half million dollar equipment. At 21 I was a supervisor of 18 year olds that operated half million dollar equipment. And I also had my cdl at 18.

At 16 one should be done with video games . At 17 one should have decided what career path will be taken. At 18 and after graduation this plan should be in
motion. There are too many grown bodies with kid minds living under there mom!

Short Fuse EOD and Oldironfan Thank this.

You cant start at the top. I started driving a truck when I was 19 doing local work and was making $8.00 an hr driving a small box truck. I had my cdl permit. I didnt make a good living until 5 years into it. The problem is 22 year olds want to start at the top with no experience
