You and I think the same way. I saw my lost wages in those first 4 years as too great for me to justify staying.

The top rate is $28.65 which is unchanged from last contract. For the new contract, 1st year starts at $18.00, 2nd $22.00, 3rd is $24ish, 4th $26ish, then year 5 you're at $28.65.

I know it, bro. They make it very hard to personally invest yourself to stay there.

    (d) Employees entering full-time Local Cartage job after August 1, 2018 shall be paid in accordance with the following progression when performing local driving work:
    Start......$17.70
    Seniority ... $18.00 (1st year)
    Twelve (12) months... $20.00 (2nd year)
    Twenty-four (24) months...$23.00 (3rd year)
    Thirty-six (36) months.... $25.50 (4th year)
Forty-eight (48) months ............Top Progression Rate $28.65 (start of 5th year = top rate)

Its actually worse then what I remembered lol. I thought they bumped 2nd year to $22, but nah, the company is too cheap.

Let just say your first year (12 month)anniversary u will hit 20 a hr. Your 2nd anniversary u will hit 23 a hr
Your 3rd year anniversary 25 something a hr. 4th year anniversary top.. the wording on the contract is confusing....

I agree. It always confused me so it became easier for me to say its a 5 yr progression since u dont hit full rate til the beginning of year 5.

He also thinks that current employees are locked in that top rate too.
The pay progression and top rate with yearly raises has him really confused.
We've been trying to explain it to him, but it gets nowhere. Just like you will here too.

An easier way to look at it is after you complete each year you get a raise.
