Where else you going to make $1800 or more (my pay is still lower than average for road drivers) and not touch JACK, and have weekends off, and really good benefits?
The $1300 was i think only working 4 days because i wanted off on one day, but that's still good.Mooseontheloose and skinnytrucker Thank this. -
BigDog Trucker Thanks this.

I've done quite a few different jobs in my 23 years driving big trucks.
And all of them I worked harder for less than I do working at UPS parcel.
I'm just about to hit my 4th year anniversary and go top rate which will be over $37 an hour.
The benefits are unrivaled. Health insurance is the best in the business.
It was rough starting out but I made sacrifices and adjustments in my life to make it happen and put in my dues. Best decision I ever made. I grossed $91k my 3rd year. I'm over $11k gross for this year so far. And I will have a $3200 a month pension when I retire at 65.
And I will retire from here.
Bigdog, if I'm not mistaken, you're pretty much new to the industry?Mike2633, Mooseontheloose, Bob Dobalina and 3 others Thank this. -
The length of the run usually determines the pay method. When I was in parcel anything over 500 for the day was mileage. Less than that was hourly. We did have some exceptions to that but the mileage runs always paid the best. Any of your clock time(non driving functions) was paid at time and a half from the first minute of your Pre Trip after agreed to free time, turn time at drop and hook location and post trip at the end of the day. Each location is different, but we gave them roughly 10 minutes free for pre trip, drop and hook and post trip. If nothing caused you a delay you turned and burned. Most times you were waiting on a meet or delayed at dispatch or something else, therefore you would often get a couple hours a day at 1.5 and it added up quickly.Last edited: Feb 10, 2019

Progression does suck at first but it gets better. And at the end you have the best job in the industry. Its hilarious to see people bash this job because they aren't willing to pay their dues.
It's more funny to see a complete newb to the industry blast one of the best jobs in the industry because he can't walk right in and make 6 digits from day one.
It amazes me!Bob Dobalina, LtlAnonymous and Banker Thank this. -

This reminds me of a what a retired turnpike guy was telling me on friday. When he left, he was making $32 an hour with great benefits. However, because of what the union had negotiated for him and his fellow workers at that time, it made it so the workers for the turnpike now are only making $17 an hour for the same job without nearly the same benefits.
In other words, as long as I got mine, just shut up and take it.JadeLove, Csdsm18, Northeasterner and 4 others Thank this.
