I failed to mention while I'm passing most of you Right Lane Warriors, I notice many of you cannot stay in your lane either. Then I get beside you and look over you're either texting, typing on your laptop, watching TV, or shoving that Big Mac in your face because you don't have time to do that when you're stopped. Get your safety stat's on distracted driving.
Another reason I pass you is when you do fall off the road I don't want to be anywhere near you.

Many of those "safety guys " are unqualified pencil pushers with no data to back their claims up . Excessive speed is only a FACTOR in 8% of truck accidents . If a driver is going 3 mph over the speed limit and falls asleep speed is a factor but not the cause .
In accidents where speed is a factor 80% of the time th speed is under 65 mph . Examples are UsX , JB , Werner , Prime , and Schneider passing in 55 mph zones.
I can show data from several studies concluding slower trucks impeding traffic increase accident risk by causing more lane changes with other vehicles .

Why are people so stupid that they cant pass someone properly. Maybe driver education plays a big role here...

I run 60mph with the pedal and the cruise never gets set unless I am on totally flat ground like in OH, IN, or IL. Keep my boost under 40 psi and lug the motor down to 1050-1100rpm. On the downgrades I let it coast to about 10 over the limit then rein it in with the jakes. This has netted me the best MPGs that keep me in the 6.8 range every fill up. As for passing someone I overtake them as quickly as I can so traffic doesn't get interrupted. Also the only times my engine sees over 40psi of boost is when I am hooked to a pulling sled or some idiot decides to race me as I pass him.

I agree about the slow pokey trk's in right lane, they are usually so bored they are constantly distracting themselves to stay awake. Feet up on the dash next to steering wheel etc now how is that safe?. i'm not a speed demon but the customers I haul for have got time sensitive freight and it has to go. Problem mainly with the slow governed company trucks I see is they get so use to the max speed they can run they do it almost everywhere including construction zones.:biggrin_25513:. God help us all if the ATA and safety groups get there way and we end up like canada. governed at 65. oh what a cluster %$#^ that will be

Y'all act like you've got some kind of lock on being super drivers, but the truth is that the fast guys are constantly tailgaiting in the hammer lane, aggressively pulling up behind slower vehicles- are an accident waiting to happen. Oh yeah... and a lot of you guys don't have a clue about how to control your trailers, constantly fishtailing across the zipper line.

Don't forget these same drivers that are in such a hurry to pass you are also in a hurry to cut you off while not signaling.

I drive 60 everywhere except the big roads and then it's only 65. Day and night I get my doors blown off by Billy big riger just to catch him at the exit or first light.

In all honesty I think there's plenty of examples of better judgement needing to be used on both side of this discussion. But in the era of $4.00+ fuel those that aren't watching there costs are truly the ones pulling cheap freight.
