TMC unless you don't mind getting half the money on deadheading or bobtailing and no detention pay.
Although TMC trucks are governed at 62mph. Why didn't you try Maverick?
How good is Werner Enterprises

Choose TMC. Much better than Werner.

Maverick way before tmc..$10 to tarp?..you eat the first 75 deadhead miles to your next load? watched under a microscope day and night? no thanks

I'd go with TMC since it's a flatbed company. Werner treats it's flatbedders like stepchildren, which is sad since Clarence started the company with a skateboard.

Did you go to Greenville Tech for school? If so and you don't mind tankers pay Superior Carriers a visit in Greer.

and good luck with the Truckers Marine Corps.

I ended up going with Werner Enterprises. So, far I think they're pretty decent. I don't like the hotel I've been staying in for orientation. It's a little sleazy and not well-maintained. I read a really funny post on this forum about orientation at Werner. It was FUNNY! So far, my experience isn't like that! No butt-juice. Everyone at orientation has all their teeth. The people were pretty friendly and fun to be around.
I only have two complaints. The hotel is nasty and the network used for training videos is tortuously slow.
During orientation, we had to do some training exercises which included watching training videos on a really slow network speed. It reminded me of when I tried to watch really low-res video footage on a dialup connection in the 1990s. It took an hour to watch a 5-10 minute video.
Other than that, orientation was pretty good. Now, I'm waiting for a trainer. On Monday we're going to have a meeting and after that, I'll get in touch with my SDM. I hope I don't have to wait long for a trainer. I don't like the hotel very much!Last edited: Apr 29, 2012

I say don't look at what other people say about a company. Truth is, all starter companies are the same. Just get in what you want to do and get your experience. Weed through the negativity because any job is what you make it. I've been on Dollar General out of Bessemer for three weeks now and it's much better than what I heard. At the end of the day, trucking is about making money. Keep your equipment up and you'll do exactly that. Get on a dedicated run, you'll have another load before you get done with the one you have.
mhintz15 Thanks this.
