How hard is it for an American to be hired as a truck driver in Australia?

    Well at the moment you better off working over here with the exchange rate you'll earn more money plus when you convert it to $US you'll even have more money but hey you don't come for the money its the adventure thats why i went to work over in the USA. :biggrin_2558:

    Yes its official if you got a pay cheque today at the current exchange rates $1000 Australian would give you $1044 US and $1329 NZ any wonder the Kiwis are coming over but its all good bro:biggrin_255:

    yes 1 of the better parts of the world to live apart from when your on the receiving end of a cyclone but hey give me a cyclone any day of the week compared to those tornado's . :biggrin_25

    I have to agree with the cyclone thing, once i and some mates went out to the cook pen and rode out a cyclone that was a cat 3, it was a great day with a few beers, a fire, and some great one liner jokes flying around, p.s the cook pen survived but the beer and fire didn't.

    Would having experience with RHD trucks make a prospective Australian employer look more favorably at a foreign applicant?

    I guess every employers different, but I think you'd find that a bit of help with aussie trucks - one upside to driving LHD is you'd be good "backin in on the blind side" over here :)
