Texas Chili holds the crown when it comes to being the KING of Texas chili spots in and around the Port Chester area (or, the world).
I was initially a Hubbas fan like the rest of 'em, being introduced to the scene around 2003. You become accustomed to seeing roaches fall from the ceiling, filthy conditions and sometimes crumby service (not sure if the "chili nazi" ((as we called him)) still works there). You think that if you want to enjoy a Texas chiliburger, you have to deal with Hubbas. Well, that isn't true. Texas' owner (who used to cook for Hubbas) brought the Port Chester chili game to the next level by breaking away from Hubbas, and doing EVERYTHING they refused to do...the right way, right down the street.
Texas Chili is CLEAN, more stools, 2 tables, and even a bathroom. The chili is tastier and is made daily - the menu is also larger than Hubbas. The service is always friendly, the menu is cheaper, and if you go back a few times you'll start to get recognized quickly. My fiance and I swore never to go back to Hubbas, and I always make sure to tell Texas' owner that whenever I see him.
Don't get me wrong, I understand we aren't talking about actual 5-star restaurants, and that you shouldn't expect much more than a chili joint, but Hubbas has gotten away with cutting major corners for too long, and now you don't have to deal with it. I get the whole shtick of Hubbas, and I know people will swear by it forever - but to them I say - You are missing out. Go to Texas Chili. Go now, and see the light! -
Nothing like a good ring sting in the morning...

Before my closest trucking friend Eric passed away last December, we used to constantly look for the hottest peppers we could find. The hottest we tasted to date was a Trinidad moruga scorpion. Holy cow, eating that thing tasted like having the space shuttle launched from inside my mouth!

I love them hot peppers! I never seem to get a cold or the flu during the times I eat a lot of them.

When my uncle was around 80 yrs. old he got a physical and the doctor said his arteries were as clean as the day he was born; no sign of clogging or buildup in his entire body. Doctor said it's because he eats hot peppers every day. He munched of very hot peppers all the time; even carried some in his pocket to eat where ever he might be.TomOfTx, ChefBrianN and TruckDuo Thank this.
