Since the weather has warmed up my truck seems to be getting too hot pulling hills. It's a c15 accert I just had the water pump changed and the coolant level is full also rad is clean and fan is functioning properly. It comes up too 225 degrees on a long pull and has brought on the warning buzzer once allready. I am pulling it down through the gears and switching the fan to manual on at 200 degrees yet it still comes up to 225 and stays there until I top the grade . My engine oil and trams temps are both topping 225 as well. EGTs are 800 and boost is at 30 psi at 1400 rpm. Any one got an idea why it's getting so hot? It's only on a long pull , normal flat ground it's at normal range 175 to 200 degrees. Could the new pump not be pumping enough? Should I consider upgrading the rad to more rows?

Just came into a TA, getting the rad blown out just to be sure it's clean enough. It looks clean but want to b sure so will get it blown out and see how it goes for the rest of the day.

At 1400 RPM's and 30 lbs of boost it's going to get hot. Gear down until you are only pulling 20-25 lbs of boost and run it up to 1700 rpms, you will never set the buzzers off like that.

My 06 accert will hit 225 on the water and the oil temp will hit 240 at those water temps(hot day, long pulls). Never had a warning buzzer go off though.

the engine fan isnt set to come on by the ecm until 217* so 225 isnt bad.

Had the rad blown out and it was a bit dirty but not too bad. It made a difference though , the temps are staying a bit lower than they were. This engine never saw temps like that wen I drove it for the company last summer and I am driving it the same way so I would say it was just from the dirt in the rad. It looked clean but with the high pressure air blow out it had some dust built up in there. To drive it at 1700 rpm on a pull is too high for an accert, it sits nice at 1400. Once they blew the rad I pulled another grade and it sat at around about 210 the whole wat up the hill. So must have just been the dirt.

I always hit the switch at 200. I think by the time it gets to 217 its allready getting too hot. With the fan on at 200 it will hold the temp down but if it's left until the fan comes on by the ECM it struggles to pull it down .

Mine was getting above the 225 when the buzzer came on. I was allready heading for the shoulder wen it came on. I idled along on the shoulder for a few minutes then got to a spot were I could pull out and just let it idle down with the fan on. The buzzer went off as soon as it came back to 225 so it must come on if the fan can't pull it down after a set amount of time.
