AT&T has gouged us for 8 yrs due to the fact there is really no other option for services where I live. They own the rights in my area and won't allow cable or phone companies to lay lines. We are so fed up that in about 3 months we are selling our paid for house and moving closer to town. They suck big time

I had att, switched to T-Mobile and finally switched to Verizon with a T-Mobile hotspot for streaming.

Att had pretty good coverage but there were definitely places where it dropped out. Also, I had the unlimited plan and after 25gb it's unusable, they throttle it down way too much. 24gb from Verizon costs less (I do get a 20% discount on it though) and if I run out, there's still "safety mode" which is throttled data that doesn't cost anything and it's actually faster than att is after they throttle.

T-Mobile was great..... when it was working. A whole lot of areas where their service drops out and then picks back up a few seconds later. And a whole lot of areas where they don't actually have service but partner with other carriers for phone calls. So, as far as phone coverage, they're ok as long as you don't mind your phone calls dropping really often and data coverage is pretty bad but when you have it, it's fantastic.

Verizon with T-Mobile hotspot is the best combo I've found so far. Coverage almost everywhere that never seems to drop. (Except on 68 in MD and that entire area of MD actually. Also parsons wv and most roads leading there it doesn't exist. And 30 miles of 64 east of charleston wv). Those are the few places I've had issues. Virtually everywhere else it's great. And I've got the hotspot from T-Mobile that lets me stream as much Netflix or whatnot as I want whenever..... as long as T-Mobile has service there.... lol

    Verizon > ATT

Honestly, att is just bad. Their coverage isn't as good, speed isn't as good, customer service is pretty much..... not there when you need it. And they charge out of the ### with fees.

Dumdriver already answered how coverage is in the North East in post #4.

Not sure why you are so focused on just AT&T instead of asking what the best carrier is for your area.

Frankly I think the Version unlimited plain is probably the best value over all right now for high speed unlimited data ($10 less than AT&T).

AT&T's $60 plain caps you at 3MB/sec. True high speed LTE data is 4MB/sec.
