This is a story from March 27th New York Governor Andrew Cuomo acknowledged Friday the state did have a stockpile of unused ventilators, despite his complaints the federal government was not sending enough. Cuomo responded to a comment from President Donald Trump on Twitter that there were thousands of ventilators in New York not being used. “Yes, they’re in a stockpile because that’s where they are supposed to be, because we don’t need them yet,” Cuomo said. “We need them for the apex, the apex isn’t here, so we’re gathering them in a stockpile.” Cuomo’s comments demonstrate there is not an immediate shortage in ventilators in the city, despite alarming reports. “We don’t need them today, because we’re not at capacity today, that’s why they’re not deployed because they’re not needed,” Cuomo said. The governor has repeatedly complained that the federal government is not sending enough ventilators to New York. On Tuesday, Pence said that the federal government had sent 2,000 ventilators to New York and an additional 2,000 more on Wednesday. But on Friday, Cuomo explained expert projections showed he would need up to 140,000 beds and 40,000 ventilators. “I don’t operate here on opinion, I operate on facts and on data and on numbers and on projections,” he said.
Not sure where you came up with that (although it probably wouldn't take much of a guess) but to date there has been nobody in the USA that has needed a ventilator that hasn't received one when it was needed.
I'll give you one guess. It was talked about every day for awhile. It's been a fight between states and the Capitol.
Back to the original question.... I haul corrugated for Int'l Paper...and since I'm 'essential' I'm actually 'provided' with N95 masks (but prefer my bandannas, LoL!) and work weekends....where I used to be off. Still home daily, T/G. I guess it's all about what ya haul. I'd rather be in the whatever % home, sometimes..but then again, I'm good. I don't get into the 'governor this / that' mess... not even 'DeWine(er)' here in Ohio.... lest I have to. And YES, states are seemingly to try to take back over from the POTUS... and I think the Chump is tired, anyway. Just IMHO.... Be safe, guys!
3 or 4 wks ago the company told us drivers to expect 8 hr days and 40 hr weeks going forward. At that time I registered online for unemployment benefits since I average 62+ hours per week. I am eligible because of that anticipated hour/wage reduction for $740 per week to supplement my 40 hour check...don't know where that $600 extra corona cash comes into play but I have yet to see under 60 hrs, including this week so I can't claim. I hear of folks pulling in 1000+ per week on the dole.
While your company keep working while others stopped the excess freight left out there left an abundance of work for your company. I have experienced similar the last 3 weeks. I wish no ill will on anyone, however I will roll on it.
I'm taking the hours while available but... If they offered me a couple months at 1000 per week I'd probably take it. Dispatch Did say today it's getting harder to find work so we shall see...fingers crossed
