Schneider does have some cheap trucks however you had better know what to look for mechanically on a used truck when you make an appointment to go look at their trucks or bring a mechanic with you. No warranty and worse thing is they will not let you drive that truck out on the highway only in their yard where truck is parked and at 10 MPH. Good thing is they have the maintenance records of their trucks. I was going to buy one of their used trucks to put on pulling containers and hire a driver to drive it for me but when they told me I couldn't drive it off the lot till all paperwork was complete and funds were wire transferred to them it can't be driven off their property that turned me off, so I didn't buy it. Be my luck I drive 100 miles and have something major happen to it.

Sadly, most owner operator's leased to the big mileage pay companies barely net that. And run 130k miles to do it.

only thing I would add is that if you are running a $26,000 truck plan on $15,000 - $20,000 a rear in repairs. 80% of that is labor. you should still be okay. Have a rental outfit lined up to get a loaner in case of a big breakdown. You won't make anything running the loaner but you won't loose either and you keep the loads going for whom ever you are pulling for and that means a lot but they will never tell you of course.

The OP says he wants to "pay himself $1000 weekly and put the rest into a business account". The problem with that is, what if there's not enough in the business account this week to pay for unexpected repairs ? Does he "loan" the business account money from his "personal" account ? Always good to keep personal and business separate.

Mercer may be a good company to lease on to..Or drive for, BUT.......

They take Complete advantage of outside carriers..........

Rates are compounded by their agents nationwide and KILL the Freight Rate...

I'll even ask about customer FSC rates and Gross revenue and they keep it a secret........Yet they put it on the RC showing a surcharge that doesnt equate with that Lane/Market

As If we are stupid or something........

Im not sure how it works there but......I suppose each agent can be selective and 'dance' around with the freight........

I had the exact opposite experience with them. Was always a competitive rate for the market.

Everyone that's filled out an application and not heard anything raise your hand! (looking around) Wow, that's a lot of hands. What makes you think you deserve special treatment? Because you are on a forum together and can now stir the pot?

Before you consider paying for a truck your demands have to be a little better than I want to be home everyday. How do you expect to pay for the truck working so little? Home everyday means bumping docks everyday. How much drive time do you think you can get in? Anyone that starts a business has to work their tail off to get it going. Banker hours won't work.

I agree, It's my pleasure to be here. Help others if I can. I'm going to change the chicken on the grill. Any Truck can have one. Sure beats truck stop food.
