Trust me.....im thinking what some of you all are thinking. ....i told him I'd be making roughly $500-$600 weekly starting.....he told me he makes that daily.....dude told me that he spent $10k fixing his truck a few months ago and he made it sound like he paid $6.00 for the number 4 value meal at McDonald's.

There's been like 3 people co-sign on what this guy is making....he has a house....wife not working, 3 kids and 2 cars.....every time I see him his smiling.

    I don't know.....

i completly agree,i have freinds pulling containers in the east coast(baltimore, harrisburg)and the only way you can net 2k a week is by running six or 7 days a week.

I dont usually like to comment on this kind of stuff. But dont listen to these other guys here. I stopped really listening to the members on this forum anyways. You can make more than 2k a week man. Net that much too, with home daily weekends off. I know people who do it. Get the money for a truck and you ask him where he works. Hes not lying to you.

First, let me say that I am NOT an owner/operator. I just wanted to chime in here. I believe it depends on what you are hauling. A lot of us oilfield haulers are making well over $2,000 a week AS COMPANY DRIVERS (that's 25% of what the truck makes). A friend of mine had a $3,600 week a few weeks ago. We haul frac sand to oilfield locations in Texas/Oklahoma. We are not home EVERY night, but usually several nights a week.

Now, it can be inconsistent at times, and you may have a slow week, but you are home more, so it makes up for it, in my opinion.

The solution is quite simple really. Why don't you train with your uncle in law, when the time is right let him co-sign a truck for you, let him dispatch you the same loads he gets for himself. Give him 10% of the net for his trouble. That is $10k profit for him.
I think you will find he is not interested because he is not really making that kind of money. If he is he would be happy to show you his 1040.

so....im hiking for the summer in CO...and im hitchin out of pagosa springs to wolf creek pass...and a guy in a carrera cab flies by me coming in from chama and hookin east to wolf creek(84 to 160). oh well, I'll get a ride eventually-i think to myself. not a minute later ...he comes screamin back, flsshes his lights and offers me a ride after i tell him just the 15 or so miles to the pass. this guy roughly sixtyish, starts screamin at bout 100mph up to the pass, and we get to talkin. he owns a chemical co in midland tx.... and tells me cdl guys with hazmat are makin $125/yr....no equity risk. i said"i bet! they have to cause the motel 6 charhes a buck ten a night" .

he says " i know...i own a piece of the holiday inn downtown...packed every night at 350 per!"

the money is out there! get in and get you some!

It's all in how he is calculating his expenses really. Some people like to leave a few expenses out sometimes. I figure my cost at $1.40 plus driver. He drives his own truck so his costs are probably lower...let's say $1.30/mile. Now, he has told you that he runs his butt off and is home every weekend.....lets say he does 2,500 miles a week. 2500 x 1.30 = $3,250 expenses. Tack on the $2,000 net and we must be grossing $5,250 on 2500 miles = $2.10/mile for all miles.

It's possible....depends on his unpaid miles. It's all in the details. I like the fella that suggested you drive for him. The BS usually stops when the men show up.

I'm thinking that your friend is one of those drivers that talks too much. See this post. Pages 3-6.

Just like a person who bets on the Horses will never tell you how much they lose...Some O/O's will paint a picture of how much they make. This guy is
F--- O- S--- you fill in the blanks.

It is possible but not everyone that buys a truck will pull it off. There are a lot of o/o who think you just show up and people pay you top dollar just because. Doesn't work that way. Then they'll tell anyone that'll listen it's not possible cause they couldn't figure it out. Pulling cans... ...not gonna happen. Just too many people happy to work for free pulling cans.
