Ok here's an up date on my post and i'm read ing some of your comments on how unrealistic this is. I went to the guy's house on july 4th.....here are some of the questions i asked and answers i recieved....if this hepls...

Me: So how is trucking going....busy?
    Him: Yes....busy
me: I'm going to be with a trainer for 30 days driving all over....
Him: Yes....you're probably going to do all 48
me: So where do you drive to???
Him (lives in upscale fontana, ca): Riverside, san bernardino, los angeles
him: Last friday i did 6 loads....16 hourse driving
    me: Really??? Locally???
    Him: Yes
me: Do you dealers with brokers?
Him: Yes.....i dealers with a few.....one brokers i've been with for 7 years
    me: Oh.....

This guy is plugged i. Some kind of way. House is la yes out.....toys....food all over the place....pool.....etc. I don't see why dude would be lying to me about him driving locally and the money he's making.

As far as just his house overhead....wife, kids, bills......it's probably at $4 minimum. All his kids have ip honest and he didn't appear broke for what i seen.

Not trynna stand up for the guy but screw what i heard....i know what i seen which is money and no worries....

Dude said he doesnt leave ca and know a low of people....

    I'm just sayin.....

Yes it is totally possible to make that kind of money. Now don't go thinking you can do it right out of school or even in the next few years without having the right connections.

If your uncle has been in this business for 20 years, chances are good that he has developed some connections and his hard work has paid off over the years.

Some guys work forever and could never do this, for varying reasons, be it lack of customer service or general sour disposition. The hardest part to believe of his story is being home EVERY night. I am sure there are gigs out there where you can do it,and be home every night, but they are few and far between.

Thanks FtWORTHTRUCKER for giving this a little possibility.....he does have connections. He told me to get some years under my belt OR which I already figured.....but I really was curious why 90% of the O/O don't have this kind of setup or connections???

dude this is a forum man. like i said dont beleive what they say here. you seen the guys place right? nice house, car, wife dont work etc. put 2 and 2 together. prob isnt lying to you. its possible to make that money. if you end up listening to other drivers and their opinions they will run you in the ground. keep contact with that guy. stay on his good side. and maybe you will be making that money soon. is it possible to fail? yes! But it is also possible to succeed. good luck buddy!

Not one person could of said it differently. From what I have seen (being a new guy), many new guys are worried about being home all the time. Not sure why? I understand after 15 years of trucking, but not 1 month.... Unless you walk into a job that allows you to do say 9k/load (just a random number I pulled out of air), you'd have to work up to the point of your uncle. So it all comes down to sacrifice. Do you want the money or do you want to be home with the girlfriend/wife/kids/pets every night? You could get to the status of your uncle, but it all depends on how hard you want to work to get there.
