Is Averitt one of those companies that measure your neck size and BMI? I understand blood pressure and your sugar count, but in my opinion this sleep study thing is crazy.
The recruiter should have told you that they do bmi, and neck size measurements. That would have saved you a lot of money.
If you're a vet they will let you do the sleep study through the VA and if you need the machine they will allow it gotten through the VA also so it'll cost you nothing. Other wise the machine is $500 which they will payroll deduct at like $50 a week. Many were complaining about the Dr just saying people were candidates for the sleep study, makes you wonder if there's a quota they need to fill to keep the study going.
It's aggravating.....the doctor didn't do a physical. He listened to me breathe, he had me raise my leg up as I was sitting on the bed then measured my neck. I went to a local DOT registered doctor a couple months ago and was issued a 2 year card. Then to have this guy say no no no came across as odd to me. The blood pressure issue, I'm pretty sure, was nerve related. I've had it checked twice since then and it's been fine both times. Each time they told me they were going to wait a few minutes then check again made me nervous, which I'm sure shot it up. I do appreciate them giving me multiple chances though.
I'm not too terribly worried about the money. I have private insurance that will cover all the cost except for $75.00.
Do you still have you 2 yr. card? If you do there are companies that will hire you and can use that card. Don't have to get another physical; only a urine test. As you're finding out, Averitt isn't what it's cracked up to be. They have good recruiters that know how to hype up the company. Companies that hire without another physical: Paschall Truck Lines Freymiller Magnum Ltd. J&R Schugel
