First job was a flat bed haul shingles locally. Did that for a week and trained the next guy to take over. Next job was KC to Houston. Stay there until they fired me for totaling the trailer. Companies are funny that way.

Two weeks with Dick Simon. My trainer picked me up halfway through a run on his way home for a couple days down time. We got 3 dispatches, all of which got cancelled literally as we were getting in the truck to go. I slept in the truck on his property in Apache Junction, AZ. In August. I cught a Greyhound bus home from Phoenix, and have worked local ever since.

A bit over one month. Got my second paycheck and discovered they had STOLEN $ 40.00, but not reimbursing lumper fees. Tried to talk to the owner, got hold of his snot nosed punk son, who told me something similar to that's the way it is. If you don't like it, go down the road.
    I went.

Zeviander, AM14, Crusader66 and 4 others Thank this.

If more people did this instead of continuously taking it up the ### this industry would be in much better shape. Thank you Don.

FWIW, that outfit is no longer in business. Snot nosed kid ran it into the ground, then sold it to a larger company. I hope his nuts have fallen off!
Do I leave the impression that I didn't like this arse wipe?

Four months. Four long, miserable, soul crushing, wallet busting months. Finally had all I could take and put my name out there. Had literally a dozen offers. Went to work with a small flatbed outfit and couldn't be happier.

austinmike, ncmickey and Ooops Thank this.

From the day I first became an official employee, to the day I turned in the pos truck, 4 months. Swift did me no favors.
