Heard from my supposed trainer on Friday and Saturday. Said he was trying to get a load to get back my way to pick me up. Talked to him again this morning and he is no closer to me and doesn't know when he will get a load in my direction. He said he wants me on his truck but he doesn't know when it will be. So now he is telling me I may need to be calling the trainer coordinator again to see if another trainer is any closer. This is very frustrating! I've been out of orientation over two weeks with no income coming in. Any suggestions??

I know if i was in your position, I wouldnt have gone more than a week without a trainer. I would have been on the phone every day asking about a trainer. I would tell them that I want to get with the next available trainer coming within 50-70 miles of my home. If not, i would tell the company that they have till the end of this week to get me with a trainer, or I'm going somewhere else to start earning a paycheck.

Understanable fustration however, Their is a tactful way to handle all business.........

Starting out you guys have not had the experience of dealing with your dispatchers and how important necessary and volitile the realtionship can be or become.

When dealing with your dispatchers you must communicate your fustration with professionalism and respect. When you get out on the road your entire livelyhood depends on these people. They tell you when their is work or not. If they give a load to someone else that you can run it is no skin off hteir backsbut all the money out of your pocket.

Just read some posts on site........their are some vindictive people in power companies as well.........placing false info on your dac not giving references and that's after you leave, quit, ge fired.

Your relationship with your dispatcher is the most important of your driving career. I spoke to a driver recently who claims to have been driving and his dispatcher called him on the phone, he didn't answer because he was busy shifting and when he called dis. back he got ripped into for not answering..........yadda yadda yadda........point......when he went to get gas that night his comdata card was turned off......It took him an hour to get thru to night dispatch to get it turned back on. ..........He lost an hour drive time/miles.........t

this is extreme but it happens.......just wanted to add a few words ....but good luck and be careful..........:biggrin_2558:

Logjam, Getting a trainer is not going to be your only source of frustration that you will come across in this business.
Call your company to see if there is any trainer any closer to you. From your thread it sounds like your company doesn't have very many trainers.
Trainers are just like any other driver and ran by dispatch not by the fact that there is a trainee wanting to get on the road. Maybe you should call the company and see if there is anything that you can do on your end.
When you do call try to remain calm.
I know that not having income is the hard part for you at this time. During the time you are with your trainer will not make a whole lot of money but it will some money.
You just want to get out on that big truck which is understandable.
Don't quit or make any threats of going some place else just hang in there.
Like people have already told you contact the company and see if there is any trainers that close to you and find out from your placement coordinator when will you be teamed up with a trainer, most of all keep your cool when you talk to anyone.
If you are able to collect unemployment check with them.
You should be connected with a trainer soon. Keep your chin up.:biggrin_25525:

Some things will not work any faster if you make threats to a company, that will only upset anything in the works and prolong the results that are needed to achieve.

Hey look at it this way if you are having this much trouble with them now, what kind of crap will the future hold with them?
    Think about that......

Well guys I'm getting more frustrated by the day. No hope yet of hooking up with a trainer. Talked to the coordinator again today. Took the advice on here to be professional and so forth. Got no where accept to call back Thursday. Talked to the guy that I thought was going to be my trainer. He was screaming about the company and saying he was about ready to park his truck and tell them to shove it. Hmmmm. You know I just need to go to work. I have a clean driving record, no criminal history and I've always worked and stayed with companies five or more years. But I'm not a college educated guy so for me to have the chance to make $40K or better in time was a step up. I did the work to get the CDL. Surely somewhere out there is a company that would get me with a trainer and get me on the road. I've never been out of work this long since I was 17. And that was LONG time ago.

does the length of time sitting depends on where you have orientation?
