plus pop the hood up, to let the heat dissipate off the block quicker, while on the 5-min cool down idle, and after shutdown

What use to kill the turbos on my boats was heat from it being over propped .

Basically lugging the engine and not letting the engine breathe .

Great. The turbo on my pickup is a Holset. I hope this issue doesn’t also include the smaller engines.

It really depends on who you buy them from. Some are better made than others. You get what you pay for.

It’s leaking right where the air to air hose clamps on to the turbo elbow. It’s running down the turbo elbow and collecting around the clamp where the elbow attaches to the turbo. It’s not a lot but I cleaned it and it came back. The inside of the air to air is clean. I just recently started idling because I ditched my money pit APU. Could their be a correlation?

They are making them ever more complicated. Cummins uses a Variable Geometry Turbo, which from what I understand, has moving vanes around the compressor that change position to increase/decrease back pressure depending on the needs of the engine and to force air through the EGR and, as someone said before have coolant running through them. In other words, they threw a lot more moving parts in there to fail. A friend of mine had an issue with his recently where coolant got into it and stuck the vanes in a position that, if he gave it too much throttle, put his boost pressure over 50 psi. He said the thing was like a dragster when he first caught the problem, then it was a really long trip back to KS from the NW as he couldn't put the fuel to it to climb hills and such for fear of blowing things up.

I guess it mostly has to do with emissions. I'll stick with my plain ol' turbochargers, even if there are two of them.

I am awestruck at the unnecessary engineering. Make the #### turbo bigger or wider as necessary until you can spin the impellers big enough fast enough to stuff the engine.

I'll take two or even 3 of the old turbos thank you... maybe even a baby charger on top too. Then we will get on down the road.

Having said that, I do thank you for a good update on the new turbos today. I see the vanes and other things just more moving parts to break. And god forbid you route coolant into the turbo, you cannot hardly keep the overall coolant cool as it is... and now adding more heat to it? That's stupid.

Isx engines don't like anyone unless you know how to rebuild it on the shoulder.
