If a driver could dispatch dispatchers, how many dispatchers would a driver dispatch?JustSonny Thanks this.

Oldie- I have a theory that you will never actually become a truck driver because it would interfere with your ability to start new threads!

####, a hijack on the first page. Impressive.

Most large carriers try to limit their DM's to 50 drivers per. That's a goal that's sometimes impossible to meet.
The company I'm currently driving for has around 100 drivers total between all our divisions. We have 2 dispatchers for all but about 20 drivers. Those 20 are dispatched by the owner of the company and take care of the largest customer we have, and I work in that department.JustSonny Thanks this. -
New Line 5: "On duty, not driving....starting new threads."
Ain't it the truth, though! I've gotten a huge kick, not to mention a great education, out of this forum. I've made friends that I haven't met face to face yet, but I hope to meet. But it is a good thing cyberspace is so huge, room for everybody!!

I suspect that you just might be the type of person that will get an even bigger kick out of being a truck driver. There are a few of us out here that really do love what we do. I hope you're one of us.

I won't know until I do it, that's for sure! Even though I think that driving will be a good fit, I'm too mature (old?) to superglue rose colored glasses to my ears. I will have to admit that, because I'm not tethered to a need for regular hometime, I do like the idea of not knowing where I'll be headed next. The often discussed aggravations that drivers face are front and center in my mind. Even though I've done okay with aggravations in other jobs, I believe that withstanding the aggravations inherent in driving commercial rigs over the interstate will be the the toughest challenge I've ever faced.
