Roy Bower was my dispatcher back in 2000. I worked exactly 24 months to the day then resigned to seek higher pay and go strictly solo... don't like sharing a truck with another man. I've been living on the road for over 6 years now. For the last 3.5 years, I've been pulling for Shaffer Trucking and very happy with company and pay. In those two years with CRST, I had 5 co-drivers...all suggested by Roy. Never wrecked with my co-drivers. Being nervous is healthy to a point, but don't let it overwhelm you. The best thing to do before you drive is talk to your co-driver and set-up rules for sleeping, driving, and living in the truck. My co-driver Jerry Garcia liked driving at night; I was happy with driving day shift. It's easier on your body having a regular sleep schedule, but sleep can be a jarring experience rolling down the highway. If you are not happy with your co-driver after a week or two...shorter time if they do something unsafe or their personalty, hygiene, what ever irks you, get in touch with your dispatcher to get a new co-driver. Good luck; be safe!
