I run pretty much the same. My truck is choked at 70 mph. But I do have the HP to climb the grades just fine. It depends on where I am running, but for the most part I aim for between 700 - 750 a day. Though there are days where I may only get 600 - 650. It just depends on location and circumstances. If I'm too tired at 650 miles, I'll find some place to sleep. I'm all for getting the miles in, but I'm not wrecking my truck to do it. I have learned that if you manage your time correctly (sleep when you should be sleeping) there is no reason you cant run 700+ miles. If you stop to eat/coffee/pee pee/etc every 2 - 3 hours then no,.. your not going to get the miles in. Thats not managing your time very well. I do loose leaf logs as well. Fuel stops, Port Of Entry (Or any kind of DOT stop) and deliveries. Thats all I have to say on that subject. I have been dinged with 2 log book violations. But they were from my own stupidity. 1, I forgot to draw a line down showing my change of duty status to driving after leaving a KW repair shop. I went 30 mins down the road and was pulled in for a random inspection. What are the odds right? The second time I was stopped in Pa, officer said I had a headlight out, but I didnt have my lights on, it was mid day. He got me for an 11 hour violation from 4 days prior. I miss counted my 10 hour rest period by 15 mins. It crossed over after midnite (New page) and I just counted my lines wrong. Honest mistake. Was not an OOS violation. Funny thing is that those are the only mistakes I can attest to ever making and both times I got nailed. Go figure right? I drive for a company that has a reputation for drivers having bad logs. I cringe each time I pull into a scale house because I know they have a big red light blinking when my DOT number comes up. I get pulled in often and I know to have my logs current. I may edit them later,.. but they will always be current.
you gotta stop and pee. it's not good healthwise to hold it in. to me, it sometimes will actually get the other thing blossoming. then i'm really screwed. cuz you know. there always isn't a seat to be had when needed. LOL.
LOL I know we gotta pee. I dont hold my pee any longer than I have too. But I mean if you stock up before you make your trip. Make yourself pee when you DO have stops instead of stopping just for the sake of grabbing a soda. Then having to stop to pee an hour later and then having to stop for fuel an hour after that. Thats poor time management IMO. The only time I hold my pee is if I am within 30 miles of a scheduled stop. I dont pee in bottles either. I think that is disgusting and shows poor manners. Had a guy parked next to me the other night, kept emptying out his pee bottle out his window all night. After the 3rd time I moved and parked over by the fence. The smell was gross. I wanted to say something but he was a big hoss and I dont think it would have really mattered.
I love going to the "Super Trucker" threads. I thought I had the CB on with all of the sh&* getting so deep. Loose Leaf logs, gallons of pee behind the seat, and 1,000 miles a day ( everyday). I guess the only guys that believe ya is the other guys spewing the same turdy poo.
odd but upon reading my post,i am unable to find any mention of gallons of pee behind the seat.that must be that new breed thing considering that those eobrs and elogs and slow trucks prevent you guys from taking pee breaks. your vernacular indicates that you went to truck driving school which means that "if your trainer didn't tell you so,then it ain't so".you absorbed and retained and now drive a truck and have 3 years in.you had your doubts along the way i bet as i am sure that school was demanding.still a bit intimidated it seems but between that qualcom and dispatcher/dm,you are told how to do that which you question.atta boy.you'll get there but at less than the posted speed limit-
Perhaps those are the only two you can attest to ever make BECAUSE you got nailed on them, eh? It's possible you have more, just aren't aware of them because nothing brought your attention to them.
I don't think it's possible to do more than 700-730 in an 11 hour shift and do it legally. Sometimes I get tired after 550, sometimes I do all 715. I have done 1,000 miles in a shift on two different occasions. I run loose-leaf, and I would just keep running until I got tired, but I'm so paranoid of being pulled over and having my logbook checked, or getting into an accident while being over HOS, that I typically don't violate. If I'm running behind my log, if I have to keep going, I'll pull over, log the miles, off-duty the rest, and give myself another hour or so. Seems like my logbook keeps getting thinner and thinner each day.
