I've been blessed with a little over 4 million miles, last accident was 1.6 million miles ago, one thing I've learned is if you're not sure, don't do it! Fatigue and impatience is your worst enemy... there is no shame in backing off and let someone else take the lead, no need to have a collision to prove a point.

    Peace.

This is my first post. I have 2,000,000 accident free miles. I'm pretty proud of it. I started in 1988 a 1980 International Transtar cabover with no power steering. didn't get A/C until 1990, power steering until 1993, and cruise control until 2003. Got my first jake brake in 2006. My advice to people is don't get in a hurry. Freight doesn't bleed. You do. Therefore you come before the freight.

[edit] also, pull into your parking place nose first. So many accidents occur in truckstops because most truckstops were designed for 55' or 65' trucks. Getting your hood torn off can be a major expense, even if it's the other driver's fault -- you lose revenue miles. Getting your DOT bumper dented is no big deal. Go in nose first and back out in the morning.

It's funny to read this, and having lived pretty much the same description of truck progression, it cracks me up reading about all the newbs whining about how bad they have it these days.

That's awesome. I do convention/event stuff so my miles aren't great but at least I get paid to sit at great venues.

what do you want to know? parallel parking? Try youtube. there is a lot of stuff on there. I always say watch and anticipate your rear bumper and rear tandems when backing since they are the first to get to the accident.

    mje Thanks this.

Yeah baby! The DOT Bumper and tandems are usually the first things that get you in trouble!
