    not only traffic. but automatics are boasted to be the much better fuel mileage.

    i don't see how, considering they run such low rpms. climbing mountains literally suck with them things.

    The US population is increasing rapdily. Millions and millions of legal and illegal immigrants are welcomed in every year. I think the goal is for the USA to have a population of 1 billion people like China so we can compete with them. Get ready to be stuck in traffic..

    Manuals are only facing death in the mega fleets because they can't hire and train their drivers to use them.

    IMHO as a crusty old school mother trucker that swore he would jump off a tall building if forced to drive an auto . . . . . .I like 'em especially the Volvo i-drive.

    They claim better fuel economy primarily when compared to a new driver who does not know or understand progressive/economical shifting techniques in a manual. Autos take a lot of the "improperly trained" out of the equation of fuel economy in relation to shifting. Manuals will still be widely available for many more years at carriers who do not hire new drivers and/or simply prefer manuals.
