Got a 96 900l with a 3406E that needs to go in the shop for a clutch, going to do the rear main seal and reseal the rear structure. Just wondering about how many hours this should take.

Call them up and ask. Most shops have a book that lays out a standard amount of time for various tasks. At least they do on cars and trucks.

Ah, the flat rape book. The book time is meaningless it was put out by vehicle manufacturers for WARRANTY time and they want to pay AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. Doing a good job usually take TWICE AS LONG as the book time, the book time counts on the workers doing the same job over and over and does not account for anything 'unexpected' as broken bolts, sized nuts, test drive time....

Best guess is 8-16hrs. Depends on your set up, rear motor mounts, side fairings, fuel tanks, exhaust, etc i’ve Changed a clutch in 8 hrs, but everything was right, went right, and I was motivated.
So there’s not really a flat time to exactly say until the mechanic is looking at it.HoneyBadger67 Thanks this. -
How many times have you seen an inside tire change take 2-3hrs when the rim is rusted to the drum? Under "optimal" conditions the same job only takes half an hour or so.
