I have a PhD in Physics from the University of Missouri. I have an MBA from Harvard. My BS is in Nuclear Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado. I am on the Mensa board of Governors and have never been tested below 187 on my IQ.
I took the driving test 2 times. I have failed 4 different road test with companies. I hit a trailer pulling out for a road test with one company. Nothing I have ever done has made me feel as stupid as driving a truck has. That is one reason I love it so much. Math was something that was so natural for me. I get a sense of accomplishment when I back into a dock.
Stick with it, it will come with experience. -
Thanks for all the replies.. I'm not gonna give up and when I do hit.the road I can take the ribbing for being a newbie. I am coming into truck driving from the body shop world so I got thick skin. I'd rather be made fun of then hit a fellow drivers truck.

I passed with a zero my first time. I had great instruction on the course and I took my sweet time and I made sure I "knew" I could own that course before testing day
Try again. Just because you don't get it quickly, doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. -

Maybe you need a different truck with a shorter trailer. We used a day cab at the school I went to, it was so simple it was a joke. Just pull up to the cones, then when you back turn hard right till the cab is at 45% (you could see it out the cab window), than hard left till you were in and straighten the wheel. After that you'll probably drive 20 years and never do a parallel park with a 53 foot trailer.
