There are tons of local jobs, everything from straight LTL union gigs to agricultural jobs. You can find jobs running mail that pay $25 and hour with over-time at $30 after 40 hours. You can find ag jobs at $15 with over-time after 45 hours. You can find beverage haulers that pay mileage, plus case, plus stop, plus who knows what else. You can find just about anything.
That is the situation. So what you need to do is figure out what you need to make and how you want to live and apply for the jobs that will give you that.Justrucking2 and street beater Thank this. -

Well should I be happy with $815 per week after taxes otr? Are newish drivers commonly making more than that? I certainly would want at LEAST that if I were to go local.
I saw an ad for another company that guaranteed $1000-1200 per week otr. Maybe this is before taxes? Or maybe they mean, "If you don't make this much, we'll let you quit." -
$815 net is an unusually slow week for me. $1-1200 take home is more the norm and I was hitting that within 3 months of going solo last year May. Also bear in mind that OTR also has the benefit of saving on commuting costs. I don't own a car and when I hear how much my brother spends just on insurance (not to mention car payment and gas) I may never own one again.
