I was just wondering if a few trainers could chime in and say how much they get paid to train the new generation of Super Truckers. I currently team drive with my wife but if something should happen and she needs to get off the road I'm wondering how much I would make as a trainer. I have 18 months of experience so I'm sure I'm qualified.
How much do trainers get paid?

At Schneider Bulk I made 50 extra a day and I also got a bonus after the student was accident free for 6 months. I do not remember the bonus amount though, it wasn't much. Training killed me though, it turned the job into something else entirely. I enjoy this job because it is private, no co-workers and nobody bugging me. Training was a very difficult job. Another thing to consider, when training, everything takes longer. Any task that takes you 5 minutes will take a trainee 15. They drive slower, back slower, etc.rearview, tscottme, Lepton1 and 1 other person Thank this.

First of all you have to LOVE teaching. Unless you do then being a trainer will be hell on earth.
I made about $72K my year as a trainer with Swift, as a company driver in a 62 mph truck. There's NO WAY I would let a newbie anywhere CLOSE to my own truck (lease or own) to let them destroy my transmission. The average trainee got in my truck with a whopping 10 hours behind the wheel, fresh out of school.gentleroger, Dave_in_AZ, cuzzin it and 2 others Thank this. -
50 extra a day seems a bit low for the hassle.Badmon, tscottme, TequilaSunrise and 2 others Thank this.

That's $50 an HOUR, right? There's no way I would train for $50 a day.
Diesel Dave and KillingTime Thank this. -
What hassle? You lay in the bunk while they drive. No hassle to it. Impending doom? Sure. But if they kill you: hassle's over.Badmon, Brandonpdx, Bakerman and 5 others Thank this.

I felt it was decent. You have to remember that I never sat either since trainers have priority dispatch.Midnightrider909 Thanks this.

Team driving is not allowed at Schneider. Trainer must be on duty in the passenger seat.Badmon and Midnightrider909 Thank this.
