The reason your "stories" get such a reaction is because of the inconsistencies in them. It has nothing to do with being young or as you say a rookie. We can all follow your business plan by listening to a radio program on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. That person has the same problem with inconsistent "stories".
I'll be waiting for the quotes you post of my inconsistent "stories". Now that is not an attack just a follow up on a statement you made about me.
Good luck I hope you get that chip off your shoulder someday.

I think the problem with most of the statements is you are going to net 190,000 a year with tmc, when most of us have experienced that when TMC and other company driver carriers begins showing up at your regular loading locations, the rates drop.
you cant take a week or two of statements and come up with a yearly average, if so I will be rich come December. especially when all the vital info is blacked out.
as I told American trucker one time, I can fully understand being young and full of urine and vinegar, just tone it down a bit. that's basically all anyone is saying to you.
for example oscarkw knows his stuff, a mod who can separate the wheat from the chaff. it would be wise NOT to challenge him. -
No you cant take 1 week and get an average for the year. 190 was based on a single week, i said i expected 150 based on the rest of my history. The vital info i blocked out was the to and from of the load, and the description of each pay. They are FSC, tarp fees etc. I could get in trouble for posting private TMC info which is why i blacked out what rate is what. The important part is what i made, how tmc pays me for what isnt relevant. I have how ever worked for 3 months as an o/o at tmc and 3 months is a good indication of how the year will go.
you guys care more about proving me wrong then giving the OP actual correct info. I'm the only one this thread who has posted anything to prove my numbers yet you still say BS. The reason I post here is to show a new o/o that there are different schools of thought. Some older truckers care less about MPG and become successful with brute force and high revenue. There are better and easier ways to be come successful and keeping cost down in one of them. the 20+ veterans are not the only ones that know how tomake money in this industry, and many of them are working harder instead of smarter. Useing new tech and keeping cost to a minimum makes it easier to have high profit. Drivign a 379 pete may look nice, but your gona spend more in fuel to keep it running. -
Keep the KR talk for the pillow
Ruthless and leftlanetruckin Thank this. -
Let's try to make his numbers work through a few different scenarios ...
If he really does pay himself 150k a year we would have an equation like this:
GrossRevenue = 150,000 + 0.68x
The 0.68 per mile is what Richter claims his operating cost is per mile (post 30), including fuel and repairs, as well as all the plates, insurance, TMC pays permits, all of it. The x is the yearly number of miles. The GrossRevenue must be the amount TMC is paying to Richter.
At 100,000 miles per year the truck would have to gross 2.18 per mile.
At 125,000 miles per year, 1.88/mile
At 150,000 miles per year, 1.68/mile
At 175,000 miles per year, 1.53/mile
The problem exists in the 0.68. There is no way a truck will go down the road for that cost. Sure, his fuel cost may be 0.55 if he is getting decent mpg and TMC has a wicked fuel discount which is all passed along to him. There is not much room for error at 0.13 per mile for repairs, he says he never changes the oil because of the bypass filter system ... to each their own on that one ... but eventually the repair for new rear ends will come, or a transmission, or the engine will need rebuilt, and maybe even one day... OMG .. the truck will need to be replaced ... either that or he will break and decide he just has to have that hood.
TMC must be a great company to work for. They must have really big hearts, giving what must be their premium dollar freight to owner operators instead of them taking their bigger cut if they had it on company trucks ...Cat sdp, SL3406, BAYOU and 1 other person Thank this. -
Some companies spoon feed the new o/o when they first sign on. To make sure they get on their feet and get a good first impression ........
Not saying that's what is happening here......but who knows . -
What are you guys find so hard to believe? That Richter gets 2$ per running mile with a flatbed after company takes their cut? Or that he runs 2500 miles a week or so?
That he burns up his 70 hrs logging legally and making sure the load is secure?
I do think his sunglasses are a little pink considering his cost per mile does not include wear and tear, aka replacement cost, health insurance, etc. Although these smaller things don't make that math wrong or untruthful. Just takes time to figure these extra costs out
I am only inspired by stories like this because they make my low 6 digit income goal for this year seem reachable. -
