carry my wallet in my front pocket and it can't fall out or get lifted. Pickpockets are Rampant in Rome IT where my wifes Dad lives. Gosh, my Pete 379 was $92000 with a 475 CAT 15 over wet line headache rack and all the chrome and lights. I would get several prices and play one against the other until they come down off that.
How much is the International Lonestar

BTW/I think a chain drive wallet puts you on the level of a Gorilla with a Harley. Looks sorta cheap and sleazy.
psanderson Thanks this. -
Just under $153,000
The dealer received many promotional cost savings on this tractor when spec'ing and is passing that along; 58" wide axles, steer air suspension, anti-roll, chicken lights, etc..
Our 2001 WS is starting to nickel and dime us at over 800,000 miles.
We could have decided on upgrading to a pre-2007 but would not have that one paid off before CARB's new emission deadline kicks in at the end of 2011.
With the current fuel prices this is a good time to be breaking in a new engine. When the economy begins to recover it is certain that the fuel prices will begin to go up.
The new tractor will have a 244" wb so we can access the Canadian freight. It can be governed for Quebec and Ontario. If we decide to do that we can do that through International a couple of different ways.
Basically, when things turn around we will be prepared.
I have driven 2 Lonestars. We have priorly driven Peterbilts, Freightliners, Kenworths and this Western Star. We have always preferred the Western Star but since Daimler is sending the production to Mexico we will not be purchasing any of their products.
This particular Lonestar was built in Canada as was our current Western Star. You can't ask for better production.
The Lonestar we are purchasing is extremely insulated, quiet and solid.
And we like the grillLast edited by a moderator: May 3, 2009
kingsson Thanks this. -
Simpsonteam, I am glad you like the grill. Some will. I personally don't but there is a truck for everyone, right? Outstanding post with lots of good info. Thanks.

I'll pass on the Lonestar, I don't really care what it costs. I have had a chain on wallet for 4 years now, after I left my wallet on the truck while working on it and spending a few hours combing a ditch looking for the various things I had in that wallet, I carry it in my front pocket and I can get it out and get into it without losing it under the seats.
I wouldn't be without 1 now, but I can't find another as good as the 1 I have.Last edited: May 3, 2009

To each their own, I suppose.
Personally, I think International Harvester should have just stayed in the tractor business. I've never driven one where I thought the build was of high quality, the ergonomics were solid, or it just felt like a solid working truck.
Western Stars, KW's and Petes have always trumped the list for me. But alas, after reading about the news on the Western Star's, I would shun away from them these days as well. They used to be the best built trucks around to meet the demands of logging. Oh well.
I don't like the Lonestar's grille for looks, and I hope the other truck manufacturers don't adopt it, because some people think it's cool looking. It looks like the cow catcher on the front of a locomotive, IMHO.
After looking at a couple of pictures of the interior, I would have to say that they got the ergonomics much better this time around, but I'd have to sit in one before I finalized my opinion on it, and that's probably not gonna happen.
I don't wear a chain wallet myself, nor do I drive with fingerless leather chrome studded gloves. Maybe someday, but for now, I'll tough it out. -
Ok Loanstar the price rang in new york is around 130 k to 160 k.
the chained wallet my self so if it falls out on my pocket or I forget to place it in my pocket I won't loose it. belive me a lost licence or a dot medical exam card that has more value than the money in the walet
