I was in the process of getting ready to unload Market Basket in Tweaksberry MA when the guy informed us that he had no record of our delivery due to not ordering lumpers via brokers, and the receiver got our appointment time lost in the paperwork shuffle and pointed us to the warehouse. I informed the lumper supervisor and apologized because it might derail his schedule. He asked if we were his 9am load and I said yes, and he said he would be happy to unload us as I was honest upfront and the other guy had not shown up yet. One hour later and we were on our way to Long Island.

I drove for Swift"I know all of the Jokes" i was waiting for a door in Texas so I started polishing the wheels. some guy comes ut and says why are you wasting your time cleaning a COMPANY truck. I said its not the companies its mine as long as I'm driving it. he chuckled walked away. I thought I was being dissed by another driver a few minutes later the warehouse super came out sent me to a door 2 hours earlier than expected and said the boss said he was calling your boss to compliment you on a job well done! So just because I don't have a 100 grand for a decked out Pete doesn't mean I can't make an impression. Remeber just because their name is on the door its your face in the windshield.

    I'm always nice to customers.

I've picked up lots of loads late. Usually it's not *me* (delayed getting unloaded and had a preassigned, dispatch didnt get a new appointment, etc etc)....but some shippers have tight schedules. and are grumpy about that.

usually i just come in, they whine and moan for a few seconds, i give a sad look and say "ok" and ...i get loaded in a reasonable time. ;)

usually they let me take someone elses appointment time after theyre 15 minutes late. ;)

i get the same thing on the recieving end too. but i did have one time where dispatch told me to call a customer myself and see if theyd take the load late (im normallly realllllly careful about that because i know dispatch always lies about it), and customer told me i could not deliver it late. saved myself a lot of time calling ahead, got authorized to drop at a yard..... :) (not my fault, got held up at a shop for 6 hours for an inspection...on a tight load...)

when you go to any rival company make sure the competitions product is stowed away.....
I made the mistake of going into coke a cola with an pepsi can on my dash and was told to immediately get rid of it and now or access would be denied onto the property....
I drank the rest of it in front of the coke nazi and showed great satisfaction at my last swallow and crushed the can....

Wow. What kind of world is this where people get bent out of shape over what soda you are drinking??

I am a newbie, currently at Roehl's school in cold, wet Wisconsin...and these forums should count as part of the curriculum!

I will definitely stash some goodies to 'grease the gears' at the S/Rs

    OKIERON,

Thumbs uo to you driver. There are alot of guys out there that think jus because they dont make the payment, they do not have to be proud of what they drive. This not only makes your truck better looking, but it so much easier to catch a problem when things are clean, and your giving it the once over. This also shows that paying attention to detail on the outside of you truck means you might be paying attention to detail on the inside. You can give the TRUCKERS WAVE to the driver that dissed you as you pass him getting that level 1, as you drive by the scale house.

Goos luck to you, and lots of safe miles.
